Cortney + Anthony: October 7, 2017

Cortney + Anthony: October 7, 2017

When a photographer chooses your venue to get married, you know you must have some pretty special scenery on site! Anthony & Cortney chose a beautiful day to get married at Crossed Keys Estate. The start of fall leaves and dahlias overgrowing in the garden provided stunning backdrops for this gorgeous, loving couple. It came as no surprise to us that our photographer groom would have an amazing photographer himself, and we are so impressed by these romantic, noir-inspired images. The Wayfarers captured some really beautiful moments between these two and we are so glad we got to see all the magic happening. From the second we saw that amazing Hailey Paige dress, we knew this was going to be one for the books! Ellie + Sean: July 8, 2017

Ellie + Sean: July 8, 2017

I should really call this post, “Narrowing down 400 of your favorite photos of all time”! This wedding was so spectacularly beautiful. From the whimsical peach and blush flowers, to the gorgeous cathedral Ellie & Sean were married in. It was just a picture perfect summer day with the most beautiful details. Not to mention, stunning photography work from one of our faves, Pat Furey Photography. We LOVED Ellie’s dress, bouquet, and head wreath combo. The navy suits and mismatched print & peach dresses all complimented each other so nicely and provided a soft, romantic touch to the vibrant, summer grounds at Crossed Keys. You already know how much we love our couples, but we can’t help but gush over these two and how absolutely sweet they are and were during the whole planning process. It was such a joy to watch Ellie & Sean wander the grounds in perfect bliss together. BEST. DAY. EVER. Floral + decor by Event Designs by Katherine.    ...
The End of a Season

The End of a Season

As we approach our final wedding of the season, I cannot help but feel incredibly lucky to have worked with so many amazing people over this year. There are so many things that go unsaid between busy planning and day-of coordinating. I watch about 40 weddings a year at the Estate and each one is special for all of those unsaid reasons. We watch our clients, who end up becoming friends, struggle with the balance of work or school and planning. We see them go through life changes, deal with deaths and illness, moves across the country and more. And after all of those moments, we get to see them live out this magical, fairytale wedding that, at moments, they never dreamed would all come together. Watching the joy, love, and laughter that happens on those special days means more to us than you will ever know. So as I prepare for my own life change and a little one soon to arrive, I just have to take a moment to say how amazing this year has been, how grateful we are for our thoughtful, sweet, loving clients, and how blessed we feel to make all of these amazing moments come true. Thank you for being a part of our lives and for letting us be a part of yours.  ...
My Two Cents: Photography

My Two Cents: Photography

There are SO MANY good photographers out there! Every time we meet a new one and see their awesome work, we can’t help but add them to our mental list of favs. I’ve recently received a lot of emails asking about wedding photography at Crossed Keys Estate. Now, I am no expert, but as my mother likes to say… just thought I’d share my two cents. Here are some tips when looking for a photographer:   1. Look for a unique perspective. With about 3,299 places to take photos on our grounds, we love seeing someone who has the ability to look at it all with fresh eyes. If you see a photo and think, “That’s cool!”, it’s probably because it’s different than the 100’s you’ve seen on Pinterest recently.   2. Do they capture close-ups and wide shots equally well? You want to remember every smile as well as every setting at your wedding. Choose a photographer who is great a capturing both.   3. Think about what kind of style you want. When looking at photos I always notice if the style seems more airy and light, or more dramatic and dark with harder lines. My preference is the darker style as I like a little sharper look. This is totally personal preference but I recommend keeping this in mind when looking for a photographer.   4. Don’t just ask for availability & pricing. Ask them to describe what they think makes them good, different, easy to work with [insert your question here]. Liking their work is important, but liking the person you choose goes a long way as it makes the whole process easier and fun!...
